Cape Haze Florida – Our Southern Home – Jan 21, 2017

Jan 19th – It was a hot and sunny day.  I went for a swim behind our boat this morning to switch out the anode on the back of the boat from Aluminum to Zinc.  The Aluminum anode was put on in April 2016 and it quickly deteriorated in salt water.  Thus I’ve replaced it with a Zinc anode which should last longer.  While I was in the water I noticed that a bunch of barnacles have grown on our rudders and other non-painted surfaces thus I’ll have to get the bottom of the boat scraped by a diver before I leave the marina at the end of the month.  We sat on the front of the boat for a while in the morning listening to some tunes and then went for a dingy run with another boater at the marina to Stump pass.  Upon arrival we beached our boats and walked along the beach and found a bunch of shark teeth.  Maria was a little cold (wimp!) on the way back to the marina thus we went and sat in the hot tub … our normal pre-dinner activity.  Another beautiful day in paradise J

Jan 20th – It was a warm, windy and sunny day today.  I decided to do some interior cleaning today and wiped down the headliner in the aft, salon, heads and v-berth with a vinegar water solution while we watched the Trump inauguration.  I also investigated Hookah diving systems to see if I can set myself up for a DIY bottom cleaning job.  Afterwards we walked over to the hot tub, however it was not hot.  I guess they are still having their intermittent issue.  We socialized by the pool until the sun went down and then back to the boat for dinner.
Jan 21st – It was a warm, windy and sunny day.  Maria and I continued with our interior cleaning today and wiped down all the walls and cupboards, etc on the boat.  The wind helped dry everything up nicely before the sun went down.  Afterwards we decided to go for a swim and sit by the pool for the afternoon and the hot tub is still not hot.  Today we would normally be at the Toronto International Boat Show with a number of our boating friends which is normally the first indication that Spring and boating season is getting closer.  Instead we're sitting by the pool surrounded by palm trees.  Not bad!

The water is 71 degrees F

A busy day at Stump Pass

We would normally be at the Toronto Boat Show, however we're by the Pool instead

  1. We missed you guys at the Boat Show. Paul and Amy, Dave and Michelle and Steve and I were downtown for Friday and Saturday. Friday we went to the VIP Theatre and enjoyed drinks and food at our seats while watching Split Friday afternoon and then went to Harbour Sixty for dinner. Incredible food although Steve and I had sticker shock when the bill came. lol Saturday we met up with the whole gang in the morning and did the shuttle over to the show. Steve and I bought a Fusion Speaker for the boat, more clips for hanging laundry, a kit for repairing canvas snaps, water shoes and a new flag pole for the front of the boat. Roz made reservations for the 18 of us at Bravi Ristorante. More great food. I will have to spend many hours at the gym this week to burn off the calories. :) We also saw lots of pictures of the boat Steve and Donna are buying. It looks amazing. It has absolutely everything they want, has already done the loop and appears to be in mint condition. Very happy for them. Did Amanda come for a visit?

    1. It sounds like you had a great time and large crowd at the boat show. We missed seeing everyone at the show. It sounds like Donna and Steve have a great new boat ... we can't wait to see it. Amanda will be visiting us on Jan 27th ... in 4 more sleeps!
