Nov 30th – It was a day with mixed
weather … hot, windy and sunny then cloudy, windy and rainy. Don picked us up at the boat this morning to
take us to Gasparilla Marina where Jim and Liz keeps their Sail Fish Centre
console. Jim and Liz took us on their
boat with Don, Greg and Joanne on a tour of Boca Grande which has many very
expensive water front homes and gorgeous boats.
As we left the marina the weather started getting rough, however we
managed to get to the island with dry clothes for the first part of the
tour. Then the rain started and we
decided to head back for lunch to Gasparilla Marina as we were being hit by
waves of salt water we were all drenched.
This time I felt like Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island on a three hour
tour … “The weather started getting rough and the tiny ship was tossed, if not
for the courage of the fearless crew the Sail Fish would be lost. The Sail Fish would be lost!” The ending was a good one as we all laughed about
it at the Gasparilla Marina restaurant where we had Gilligan (Me), the Skipper
too (Jim), the Millionaire (Greg) and his wife (Joanne), the Movie star (Liz),
the Professor (Don) and Maryanne (Maria) here on Gilligan’s Isle ;) After we got back to our marina the sun was
out thus we visited the on-site Pool and Hot-tub with a couple cold ones and
met two couples from Canada as well as 2 couples from Michigan.
Dec 1st – It was a warm, humid and
overcast day with some sunny breaks. I
spent the day doing a number of jobs around the boat … the most difficult job
was switching the alternators between the engines to see if the issue moves to
the other engine. The initial tests are
OK, however we’ll have to go for a 2 to 3 hour cruise to determine the result
of this test. Maria was busy around the
boat as well. Afterwards we BBQed dinner and then went in the Hot-Tub to soak my pains away, however the
Hot-Tub wasn’t that hot tonight thus what appears to be the regular Hot-Tub
crowd agreed to each talk to the harbor master tomorrow to ensure that it’s hot
for tomorrow night.
Dec 2nd – It was
a windy, warm and sunny day. Dennis and
Pat, Canadian friends of ours, visited us today from their winter place near
Port Charlotte in Florida. Don and Jim, also
Canadian friends, joined us as well. We
had a great visit with a bunch of great people.
Afterwards we met people by the hot tub (which is hotter today) which told us that there are
more Canadian’s on their way to stay in this marina. We’ve met many great folks here so far and it
looks like tonight may be another hot tubbing night!

Okay I am going to try this again. This is the third time that I have tried to comment. The last 2 appeared to post and then disappeared. Not sure why as I was logged in. You guys look like you are having so much fun. Great to see you with Don, Jim and Liz. When do you guys fly back to Canada for Christmas? How long will you be here?
ReplyDeleteHmmm ... that's weird??? Well you know that this comment made it since I'm replying to it ;) We are having all kinds of fun and the Krate's south people are spoiling us! We're flying home on Dec 21st for 2 weeks. I can't believe how fast time goes by when you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad this is working again for me. It's been just over 5 months since you left Krates. So just another 9 months and you will be back. I know you will be busy and have lots of people to see, but if possible, we would love to see you too. Steve, the boys and I are all off from Dec 17 through to January 2nd. Other than some day trips, we will be around if you can get together. Cheers
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how fast time is flying by! We'd like to stop by and say Hi and tell you all about our adventures when we're in the area. Most likely sometime between Christmas and New Years. We'll get in touch with you when we're in town. Cheers
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you are spending time with the LSYC snow birds.B
ReplyDeleteYes ... they've been showing us around and we're enjoying their southern lifestyle!
