Oct 31st – It was a hot and sunny day
again today. We used the courtesy car
this morning and went to Bayside rubber in Mobile to build us replacement oil
hoses for our engines which will replace the hose that I used rescue tape on a
while back. When we got back to the boat
I replaced the hoses, put new oil & filters on the engines and also changed
the transmission fluid. Maria went to
West Marine and then went to talk to an onsite mechanic at the marina about a
replacement fuel pump for our generator and he’s looking at ordering us one if
they can get it for the right price.
Brian’s and Judy’s boat was pulled out today and they are flying out
tomorrow for 2 months to see their family … we will definitely miss them! We went out in the courtesy car again to visit
the Bass Pro shop here which is incredible and afterwards we went to our last
dinner with Brian and Judy L
Nov 1st
– It was another hot and sunny day. We
walked to Middleton Marine to determine if they could find a replacement fuel
pump for our Westerbeke generator. They
found a couple of options, however they had a Westerbeke fuel pump that was
purchased for a job and then removed since it did not fix the customer’s
issue. Middleton Marine sold it to us
for a fraction of the price and I installed it which fixed our generator
issue. I noticed the alternator belt was
very worn thus I had them order 2 for me (a replacement and spare). We are almost ready to move on from Dog River
since all of our planned maintenance should be completed tomorrow. Later we had dinner on our boat with Tom and
Cathy.
Nov 2nd – Once again it was a hot and
sunny day. We walked to Middleton Marine
to pick up replacement alternator belts for our generator and then I installed
a new belt. Maria spent most of the day
calling Florida marinas on the Gulf coast for a month stay from mid-December to
mid-January. The winner is Palm Island
Marina which is close to our Canadian snowbird friends. We used the courtesy vehicle here to go into
Mobile with Tom and Cathy and then we had dinner on their boat. Unfortunately we need to say goodbye to them
since they will be flying back home on the weekend for 2 months to see their
family.

Great Blog guys. Sounds like the weather is holding out for you also getting the oil and filters changed always makes me happy. Safe boating guys
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian! The weather here has almost been too hot, however I better not let Maria hear me say that ;) And it does feel good to get a bunch of maintenance items completed.
