Waiting for low winds/waves for a Bahamas crossing - Boot Key FL – Mar 5, 2017

Mar 3rd – It started out as a hot sunny day and then we were hit by a heavy rain storm which brought winds over 30 mph.  The crew of the 4 boats headed into the dingy dock this morning and we all walked into town to a Pawn shop where Lee and Brian bought some good used deep sea fishing rods and we bought a water storage jug.  As we walked back the rain clouds started to blow in.  Maria and I filled up the new water jug and had to get gas for the dingy while it started to rain.  We got back to the boat before the major rain arrived, however Brian and Judy got back later and were soaked by the heavy rain.  In the evening we had dinner together and played Family Feud, guys against the girls, and the guys won!  The winds were howling all afternoon and through the night.

Mar 4th – It was a sunny warm and extremely windy day.  We sat on the boat today and just relaxed.  We were contemplating going into town by dingy however the main bay was rough thus we decided to stay put.  The others decided to go into town for happy hour and they got drenched thus it seems like we made a good decision.  They are forecasting stronger winds for tomorrow … hopefully not too much stronger since we’ve had some really strong gusts that have jolted the boats.  We are checking the anchors and lines to shore periodically to ensure we’re still secured.  Our back lines are like guitar strings!  We played a couple games in the evening on “Relax Now” including a new one to us called “99” which entertained us all!
Mar 5th – It was an extremely windy day with a mix of sun and clouds.  The winds have been relentless and are blowing at 30 mph (50 kph for my Canadian friends).  We decided to stay on the boat again today and I tackled a few small jobs.  I believe that tonight is a Euchre night thus I’ve decided to put my blog post up early today.  There’s still no sign of an acceptable weather window for crossing to the Bahamas L
